Branden Hall
Branden Hall is a programmer, woodworker, and tinkerer as well as the co-founder and CEO of Automata Studios Ltd., a software development consultancy. He has a deep passion for fabricating anything and everything. From code to cabinetry Branden is rarely seen not building something. His fascination with all forms of creation comes naturally; after all, his parents smelted their own wedding rings.
When Branden is not making loud and somewhat concerning noises in is basement workshop he’s often busy writing code. He started programming BASIC on an Apple IIe when he was 11. In high school he became fascinated with the then nascent world wide web and since then has risen to become a noted expert on web-based interactive media. He regularly speaks on the topic at conferences world wide and has co-authored a number of books on the subject.
In 2006 Branden, along with his childhood friend, Keenan Keeling, co-founded Automata Studios in Branden’s garage. These days Branden’s commute is no longer just a few steps out his back door and Automata has been busy creating award winning software for the likes of Adobe, Microsoft, Bloomberg, National Public Radio, and many others.
Branden lives outside of Washington, D.C. with his wife and their two children.
