Jean Philip De Tender

Jean Philip De Tender has been working for VRT, the Flemish public broadcaster since 1989. He started off as journalist for various television and radio programs. For more than seven years he was editor in chief of all the programs of the well known talk show host Jan Van Rompaey.

Later, as television program manager, he became responsible for a wide range of programs in all genres (fiction, entertainment, current affairs, reality, …).

Since 2007, he has been manager of Eén, the biggest television network in Flanders and has seen Eén grow to be an enormous success with more than 33 % market share and a clear vision on public broadcasting.

Jean Philip loves writing and sharing his ideas. With the growing success of social media, Jean Philip preferred exploring the web rather than commissioning new studies. He started his blog in 2006 and became a top 100 blogger in Flanders. His blog is a unique mix of personal stories, book reviews and is a barrel full of inspiration.

In September 2010, Lannoo published his first book “Alles is een verhaal” (“Everything is a story”). It is a right brain book that should inspire people to become aware of the power of stories. Everyone and everything is a story. If people become sensitive to stories, they will better understand the world around them.

Jean Philip teaches “Television Management and Media Context” at the Brussels film school RITS. He is also a board member of BVN (The best of the Netherlands and Flanders) and a member of the EBU TV Committee, to which he was recently elected vice chairman.

As an inspiring personality, Jean Philip often lectures internationally both within and outside the media world. His speeches at the EBU General Assembly and EBU TV Summit were much appreciated. As manager of the network VRT Eén, he frequently consults with various European public broadcasters.

Jean Philip loves reading books and is inspired by everything that crosses his path.

He likes to listen to people and their stories. But he also enjoys mounting the stage to tell stories. He is an international speaker on media, the power of storytelling, creativity and inspiration, pitching, and more.
