Dirk Vandenberghe
Dirk Vandenberghe has been working as a newspaper journalist for twenty years in Belgium, The Netherlands and France. He was a reporter at the regional daily Gazet van Antwerpen and the financial newspaper De Tijd before moving to Rotterdam, where he worked as a journalist for the newspaper NRC Handelsblad and its morning edition nrc.next, which he helped develop. Since 2010, he has been NRC’s correspondent in France, based in Paris.
During his career, he has covered many different topics, including the closure of Renault Vilvoorde factory, the burial of Deng Xiao Ping, stories on Belgian, Dutch and French society and most recently the campaign for the French presidential elections. He has also worked as a sports writer, with the 2008 Tour de France as a highlight. He was born in Kortrijk in 1971 and studied journalism in Ghent (B) and Utrecht (NL).
